"The Path to Building My Courage”

In this Episode, I am answering one of the questions I received on how I found my courage to speak up and share my story.  I reference the quote by Brene Brown that truly sums up my journey of building my courage and how I decided to continue to follow this path.  “Courage starts with showing up and letting ourselves be seen. Because true belonging only happens when we present our authentic selves to the world, our sense of belonging can never be greater than our level of self-acceptance.  Vulnerability sounds like truth and feels like courage.”

~ Brene Brown

In this episode I share the top tips of building my courage:

1.  Changing or shifting my mindset to allow more positive thoughts, and less toxic thoughts in is where it changed.  I was also committed to removing the negative thoughts, language, mindset and lack of self-worth that was consuming me.

2.  I looked back to where I showed courage in my life before to provide evidence to myself that I did have the tools and the ability to move forward one more step. Providing contrary evidence truly shifts our thoughts, beliefs and mindset.

3.  I recognized that I had a deep trust of myself for what feels right, what the right decision was and what the best decision was for me. This is from years of learning to listen to that inner voice.

4.  The only way I could find the feeling of belonging was to improve my level of self-acceptance.  I had to find a way to love, forgive, honour and trust myself again.

5.  I accepted that I wasn’t being authentic with anyone including myself.  There was no way I could build relationships with anyone because I didn’t allow anyone to see the real me and how much I was truly suffering.

6.  From the point I collapsed on the floor, I let go, fully surrendered and I made a choice that my life would look different moving forward and I agreed to pay it back in some way shape or form. Learning how to surrender truly saved my life.

7.  The more I practiced vulnerability by sharing my story, it brought other people into my life who needed to hear that they weren’t alone and that continued to feed me and fuel me that I was on the right path.  It was a cycle I chose to continue to repeat. It led to my freedom.
