Teddy Fikre is an independent candidate for congress running in Virginia's 8th congressional district. Teddy and I discuss his political journey, race and identity politics, corporate paternalism, fatherhood, and why he's running for congress.  After working his way out of homelessness and poverty, Teddy is determined to speak for the voiceless and stand up for the marginalized and disenfranchised poor, working and middle-class. Teddy realizes that progress in America cannot happen unless we get beyond the toxic “us vs them” politics that has polarized our country.
