According to the CDC, approximately 12,000 children and young adults, ages 1 to 19 years, die from unintentional injuries each year. And one group is working to reduce that number. Joining us this morning is Dr. Kristyn Jeffries from Children's Mercy hospitals who is active with the National Injury Prevention efforts in KC. Also joining is Dr. Steve Lauer a pediatrician with The University of Kansas Health System.
