Finding co-workers who have your back and that you trust and care about like family can be an exceptional experience. I know that I have been fortunate to have found my tribe through the years. I started off with an excellent example of teamwork when I was a young teacher in 1997. That sense of team continued to grow through most of my career. I think it has a lot to do with the leadership on the team and the leadership from the top.
In my school, we were taught to work as a team and care as a family. It was powerful.
Without the support and benefit of teamwork, you can often feel lost or even hurt. Sadly, not every team I encountered was like family. In fact, my last experience on a team was one of the worst team experiences I have ever faced. I was not welcome and treated like a complete outsider with little to offer. It was heartbreaking.
In today’s show, I’ll share my story. We will also hear about the value in going out and searching for your tribe.
