Today is a show about togetherness, peace and love in the wake of nationwide protesting of the killing of George Floyd by Minneapolis police. Our thoughts are with the family of Mr. Floyd, and to everyone protesting for a solution to end police brutality against black Americans.
World Peace Begins Within
Autumn Connolly chants a mantra to start off the show. The general meaning of the chant is “anger builds nothing, and love builds everything.”

Connolly says that to make a difference, we need to start within. That means taking care of our mind, body and soul. We need to nourish ourselves to be at our best. If we are at peace with ourselves, we can carry that message to others.

Her message is "nourish the body, nourish the soul". She goes on to give us an amazing recipe that is good for us and affordable:

One bag of frozen peas, put in warm water until they’re bright green.
Do the same with a bunch of spinach
Add a handful of mint.
Then add 1/2 a cup of organic cashews.
Saute in a large pot until the vegetables are slightly wilted.
Move to your mixer and mix until you have a light puree.

That's it. Connolly says it's her favorite, and kids love it, too. We like to call it “Let there be PEAS on Earth!”

Don't forget to check out Autumn's product now available on amazon, Anvil Traditional Healing Kefir Starter Kit, which gives you everything you need to create your own probiotic drinks at home. It's the perfect replacement for store-bought sodas.
What to Say to Children about the Protests
Dr. Mike McFarland has been on the show numerous times. He is a Licensed Psychologist in the state of Texas, with a private practice in Dallas, TX. Dr. Mike specializes in the treatment of anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive spectrum disorders (OCD), and male body image & eating disorders.

McFarland says the country is in a very confusing time right now. As COVID shelter-in-place starts to relax, we get hit with rioting and looting due to police violence.

When talking to our children about recent events, McFarland says to be up front. Try your best to decide the amount you share based on each child’s age and maturity level.

Bern asks if it’s possible to raise children without bias. McFarland says that we are all raised with biases through our family, society and our own experiences. We have to look at our own inner dialogue and keep ourselves in check. But, everyone has biases.

His advice is to get your children involved with groups that are designed to help society through peaceful measures. Of course, we want our children to have their own opinions and stand up for what they believe in, but not in a negative or violent way. We can hopefully steer them towards positive ways to protest, and learn something ourselves in the process. Learn more about Dr. Mike McFarland at www.mcfarlandpsychology.com.

Bernadette leaves us with the message that peace begins within. We all want peace on earth, and it’s possible if we look inward.   You get One Body, One Mind, and One Life....Get out there and make a difference - peacefully!

Thank you to our listeners, guests and sponsors. We love you all!
