Happy Thursday!
We have a great show for you all today! Lily Dulan, author of "Giving Grief Meaning: A Method for Transforming Deep Suffering into Healing and Positive Change" is here. Dr. Lori Whatley's is back to discuss talking about politics with your kids. So, let's get started!
Lily Dulan
Lily Dulan is an MFT Psychotherapist with Masters in Psychology, Creative Writing, and Teaching. She is a certified Heart of Yoga Teacher and completed coursework at Agape International Spiritual Center under the tutelage of Michael Bernard Beckwith. Lily started a foundation in loving memory of her daughter Kara Meyer Dulan and partnered with both local and international organizations such as Unatti Foundation and Venice Arts. She teaches workshops at her home in Los Angeles, leads retreats, speaks throughout the community, and hosts a variety of educational and charitable events. She lives with her husband David and their two daughters, Sally and Marcelle.
Giving Grief Meaning
After her first daughter, Kara Meyer Dulan, died at home from SIDS at two months old, Lily started a foundation in her child’s memory called The Kara Love Project. Through being gentle and kind with herself, the letters from Kara's name began to bring qualities of change all over the world. By attaching a special meaning to names, following breathing and meditative exercises, and daily affirmations, Lily is able to move through the grief process in profound and transformative ways. She can teach all of us to do the same, using the hard earned method she developed and calls The Name Work. By creating an inspired groupings of qualities, (IGQ’s)  attaching purpose and meaning to our chosen names, and following breathing and meditative exercises, daily affirmations, and more; Lily is able to move through the grief process in profound and transformative ways.

Whether a deceased loved one’s name or your own, The Name Work method ascribes qualities to individual letters in a name. Through introspection and self-reflection, the reader is able to create an Inspired Grouping of Qualities. The qualities we find through doing  The Name Work can help us move through grief and suffering of all kinds. Once mastered it is a tangible and personal self healing method for whatever obstacles come up in day-to-day life. A unique, new wellness tool for healing and self-discovery,
Dr. Lori Whatley
Dr. Lori Whatley is a clinical psychologist and relational therapist who specializes in the effects of excessive digital device usage. Dr. Whatley has over 25 years of clinical experience and has specialized in digital device usage for the past 10 years. Her latest book “Connected & Engaged: How to Manage Digital Distractions and Reconnect with the World Around You” takes a look at the toll excessive digital device usage has on our lives—and what we can do about it.

Negative news stories can affect your children more than you think. Discussing politics is painful at any age, but it is painful to try and imagine stress on children, too. Dr. Lori says we must learn to discuss politics with civility. We have to find a way to be civil without tearing our families apart. Nothing good can come from trying to argue politics with a child. Your child has a right to develop their own belief system, but it is best to try and never argue with them. Dr. Whatley grew up in a home with parents with differing political views, but she never saw them bicker. That is the goal for us.
Thank You!
