How Exercise and Supplements Affect the Brain
Happy Festivus! Dr. Joey doesn't even go to the gym any more, he just goes straight to the ocean! Paddling on the waves engages all your core muscles and ignites your overall wellness. Being exposed to the sun isn't just getting vitamin D, it is more than that. The sun affects our brain health as well, versus being in grey overcast skies. Exercise in general help cognition, brain health, and obviously physical health. We know how much exercise we need for exact optimal health for things like "cardiovascular health." We do not know how much and what kind of exercise we need for optimal brain health.

Bernadette asks Dr. Joey directly about CBD and the brain. Dr. Joey says that CBD is a tough subject. He believes that CBD may be placebo affect, and there is not any data on CBD and exercise directly. No body really knows what kind of pain CBD targets in the body, so it is tough to determine. CBD and athletics need to be researched more, and Dr. Joey Antonio is on it! Sports drinks are better than just water as far as rehydration. Surprisingly, milk is the best for long term rehydration.
Creatine
Creatine is a substance that is found naturally in muscle cells. It helps your muscles produce energy during heavy lifting or high-intensity exercise. Chemically speaking, it shares many similarities with amino acids. Your body can produce it from the amino acids glycine and arginine. Dr. Joey says many people have weird and bad ideas around creatine. The ISSN is about to publish a paper debunking the myths surrounding creatine. So look out for that! Creatine is typically used by meat eaters, but it is vegans and vegetarians who do not eat meat and especially fish that can benefit from creatine. Dr. Jen Myers
Dr. Jen Myers is a Doctor of Natural Medicine, Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine and a Certified Genomics/Nutrigenetic Specialist. She is the Chief Genomics Officer and Master Formulator on two Scientific Advisory Boards focused on DNA-based supplementation. Myers instructs Physicians and Practitioners how to implement Nutrigenomics into their practices to provide a more personalized approach. She is also a formulator for Sunwarrior plant-based proteins and has published a number of articles on their behalf.

The Future of DNA-Based Nutrition
Dr. Jen Myers is at the forefront of DNA based research and genomic researching. Common DNA testing like 23andMe and Ancestry are not enough, especially if you want to optimize your body’s health and biochemistry, not just look at your risk for some common diseases.
