Turning The World Upside Down

We often think of discipleship as ME plus JESUS or ME and JESUS, which equals the two of us. But that’s the wrong arithmetic. The proper equation is ME + JESUS = JESUS. This higher math involves subtraction, not addition. This isn’t about adding Jesus to my life. This is about Jesus becoming my life.

Clinging To God In The Middle of A Mess

What will you do on the worst day of your life? Where will you turn? At the intersection of tragedy and crisis, will that moment drive you away from God or toward God?

Teaching

What’s the most important job in the world? I would say the answer is easy—a teacher. Some might disagree and say, “What about a doctor? Doctors save lives. What about a fireman or a policeman?” All worthy professions for sure. But who taught them? Name any job, no matter how important, and someone had to teach them. When it comes to spreading the gospel, without question, teaching is the most important job because there’s not a more important subject and the stakes have never been higher.

Have You Been With Jesus?

You’ve probably heard someone say that couples who stay together for many years start to look like each other. The idea is that, the more time you spend with someone, the more you begin to resemble them. Shouldn’t this apply to our relationship with Jesus? When people look at you, do they see someone who resembles our Lord?

The resurrected Jesus appears to His disciples. He talks with them, He eats with them, He commissions them. Then it’s time for Him to leave the stage. And how does He do it? As we would expect, in dramatic fashion.

And nowhere is this more obvious than when it comes to our spiritual fitness.

Bible Study

Faith is a muscle. And like any muscle, it must be exercised or it will atrophy. The longer you go without using faith, the greater danger of being spiritually unhealthy. If you don’t use it, you lose it. Maybe you don’t stop believing in God altogether, but if you don’t exercise your faith, you will feel it.
