I once overheard someone at a restaurant say, “The currency of our time is time.” It got me thinking. How could something that we all have when we wake up be so easily manipulated, taken for granted, or given away? Whether it’s because we always believe there will be more of it or because we have a hard time releasing ourselves of time traps, we often give our time away frivolously. When I heard of the work Ashley Whillians was doing to reel in their time and extract true joy from their life, I had to talk to her. She’s the author of “Time Smart: How to Reclaim Your Time and Live a Happier Life,” an assistant professor at the Harvard Business School, and a leading scholar in the time and happiness research field. She shares how to be deliberate and intentional with our time and some of the strategies we can use to be more time smart. Trust me, listening to her is time well spent.
