Breaking into the film industry is hard for any young filmmaker, no matter where you’re based. In today’s episode, Tom Chaves invites Jon Sherburne to ask questions about how NYC Film works. Jon is a 22-year old creative professional that’s looking to move to New York and begin his career. In this episode, they’ll talk about great tips for any aspiring filmmaker to consider.


Tom is an NYC-based gaffer and he’s also the owner of Mastershot Films, a company that supplies video productions with grip and lighting equipment, along with skilled gaffers and grips. Tom is a graduate of the City University of New York Brooklyn College and has been a full-time freelancer for over 12 years. throughout his career, he has learned different techniques to find work as a freelance film crew member.
