Finding Work in Film, TV, & Video Production in NYC

How does one find work as a freelance filmmaker? In this week’s episode, Tom Chaves will talk about 15 strategies that he uses in order to meet other filmmakers and constantly drum up work for himself and the dozens of freelance filmmakers that he hires for different shoots. .

Tom is an NYC-based gaffer and he’s also the owner of Mastershot Films, a company that supplies video productions with grip and lighting equipment, along with skilled gaffers and grips. Tom is a graduate of the City University of New York Brooklyn College and has been a full-time freelancer for over 12 years. throughout his career, he has learned different techniques to find work as a freelance film crew member.
