People’s acceptance of selling is somewhat controversial as so many marketers do it wrong. And yet, not one soul can contest the fact that in a business, you don’t get paid to ‘share’, the money only comes in when you make a sale.


As a solopreneur, my sales skill is the bloodline of my livelihood. But for a long time, I was afraid of selling. I am an introvert who doesn’t have the natural talent for small talk. Being taught by mentors to “share, not sell” did not help either. If anything, it prevented me from being good at sales.


Looking back, I can recall several reasons why I lacked the confidence in selling, which I also see in so many of the entrepreneurs I’ve coached.
