Hello Family,
Welcome back! This is day 8 of our 54-Day Rosary Novena.

Today is Ash Wednesday, marking the beginning of Lent. Lent is a period of forty days of fasting, prayer, and penance leading up to Easter Sunday. It begins today on Ash Wednesday and ends on Holy Thursday, excluding Sundays. This is the time to reflect and prepare to celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The forty-day duration is symbolic, representing the time Jesus spent fasting in the desert before beginning his public ministry. During Lent, we are encouraged to engage in acts of self-denial, such as fasting from certain foods or habits, as a way to unite ourselves with the suffering of Christ and to deepen our spiritual lives.

The four key aspects of lent are :

Fasting: We are called to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday by abstaining from meat and eating only one full meal daily. Additionally, we are encouraged to give up something we enjoy or find meaningful as a form of spiritual discipline.

Prayer: During this time, we should increase our prayer time. You may want to attend additional services, such as Stations of the Cross or daily mass.

Almsgiving: This is also the time to practice charity and almsgiving by giving to those in need. This can be in the form of donating money or goods to charitable organizations, volunteering time to help others, or performing acts of kindness for friends, family, and strangers.

Sacrament of Reconciliation: During Lent, we can also receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession) as a way of examining our lives, repenting for our sins, and seeking God's forgiveness.

Lent is a season of spiritual renewal and growth; it gives us the opportunity to deepen our relationship with God and prepare our hearts to celebrate the joy of Easter.

Our 54-Day Rosary Novena is a great way to increase our prayer time, fostering that deeper connection with God during the Lenten season leading to Easter Sunday.  How will you be preparing your heart during this Lenten season? Send me an email to [email protected]

Day 8: Luminous Mysteries in Petition
Let's get started. Today, we're praying the Luminous Mysteries in Petition.  Blessed Mother, as we pray the Luminous Mysteries, we seek your guidance in understanding and living out the lessons they convey.

Blessed Mother, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, be with us as we pray for our vocation. We humbly request your intercession, lifting up the special intentions that reside within our hearts.

Blessed Mother, on this Ash Wednesday, as we respond to the call to return to the Lord, may our hearts be receptive to reconciliation and mercy from our gracious and compassionate God. Assist us, O Mother, in coming together as a community to unite in prayer and sacrifice, seeking to be spared from reproach and to find favor in the sight of our God. Amen.
