Day 1: Joyful Mysteries in Petition

Hello Family!
Welcome to the 6th season of 54 Days of Roses. If you are joining us for the first time, welcome to this beautiful family of prayer.

For those that are new, let me explain what is a Novena. A Novena is a beautiful devotion that consists of praying the rosary for nine days. For nine days, we pray the rosary and meditate on the life of Jesus; and we ask for a favor of God. Often, we ask for our Blessed Mother's intercession or a Saint's intercession. When we pray a Novena to Our Blessed Mother, we ask her to pray for us and with us so that He might grant our desires or that He might bring us closer to Him.

The 54-day novena originate in 1884 when our Blessed mother made an apparition to a young girl Fortuna in Naples, Italy, and said:

“Whoever desires to obtain favours from me should make 3 novenas of the prayers of the Rosary, and 3 novenas in thanksgiving.

A 54-day novena consists of praying 3 Novenas in petition (27 days) and 3 Novenas in Thanksgiving (27 days). For each Novena, we will meditate on the Joyful, Sorrowful, & Glorious Mysteries. You may download a schedule the Mysteries on our website. The Luminous mysteries were not part of the rosary in 1884 when our Blessed mother made an apparition, However, you may certainly include the luminous mysteries if you would like.

In this 54-day Novena, we will implore our Blessed Mother to intercede for us as we pray to have our hearts opened to the will of God. We will also pray for the special intentions that you hold in your hearts.

Blessed Mother, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, we ask that you intercede for us as we pray to have our hearts opened to the will of God.
