Cary Bernstein is the Founder and Executive Director of Stand for Animals, (formerly Charlotte Spay Neuter). Originally on a mission to end the overpopulation problem facing the Charlotte Mecklenburg area, Cary’s nonprofit business has grown from simply spaying and neutering as many animals as possible out of one small clinic to now offering full low-cost veterinary services between three clinics. An incredible benefit to low income families and local animal welfare organizations alike, Cary’s mission-driven organization is paving the way for rethinking traditional spay neuter operations and changing the way we look at healthcare for pets in need. Cary is working in partnership with local veterinarians to further open the conversation about getting more pet owners to develop a healthy relationship with veterinarians that wouldn’t have otherwise brought their pet in for care due to expenses, (and not understanding the need).
