Muslims kill nine in Ghana, Africa

On September 21st, Muslims killed nine people in a violent attack in northern Ghana near the border of Burkina Faso, West Africa, reports International Christian Concern.

There has been an uptick in Islamic extremism in the region with many claiming that Burkina Faso is one of the most dangerous places to be a Christian.

Open Doors ranks Burkina Faso, the country just north of Ghana, as the 23rd most violent country for Christians worldwide.

Tropical Storm Ophelia hit North Carolina Saturday

Early Saturday morning, Tropical Storm Ophelia made landfall in North Carolina at near-hurricane-force strength, lashing a large swath of the mid-Atlantic with blistering winds, heavy rains and dangerous storm surge.

Psalm 107:25 says, “For [God] spoke and raised up a stormy wind, which lifted up the waves of the sea.”

The center of Ophelia made landfall near Emerald Isle about 6:15 a.m. ET with maximum winds of about 70 mph, falling just short of reaching hurricane status, according to the National Hurricane Center. However, Ophelia’s impacts stretch far beyond its center, with Tropical Storm Warnings at one point covering 7 million people along the eastern seaboard.

Democrat Senator indicted on bribery charges

On September 22nd, Democrat Senator Bob Menendez of New Jersey and his wife were indicted in New York on federal bribery charges related to their allegedly “corrupt relationship” with three businessmen from their home state to protect those men and benefit the nation of Egypt with military sales and financing, reports CNBC.

Senator Menendez, the chairman of the powerful Senate Foreign Relations Committee, agreed to step down from his chairmanship due to the charges.

The three-count indictment unsealed Friday alleges that Menendez “provided sensitive U.S. Government information and took other steps that secretly aided the government of Egypt,” and pressured a U.S. Agriculture Department official to protect a business monopoly in Egypt for one of the three businessmen.

The Manhattan federal court indictment says, “Those bribes included cash, gold, payments toward a home mortgage, compensation for a low-or-no-show job, a luxury vehicle, and other things of value. Over $480,000 in cash — much of it stuffed into envelopes and hidden in clothing, closets, and a safe —was discovered in the home, along with over $70,000 in Nadine Menendez’s safe deposit box.”

In addition to the cash, agents also seized 81.5 ounces of gold bars. At the current spot price, those bars are worth about $155,000.

Dallas Mayor becomes a Republican

Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson announced Friday that he is switching parties and will serve as a Republican-affiliated mayor of the blue-leaning city, reports CNN.

While the Dallas mayoral office is nonpartisan, Johnson previously served as a Democrat in the Texas legislature. He slammed his former party in an op-ed for the Wall Street Journal published Friday, blaming Democratic policies for “exacerbated crime and homelessness.” Plus, Mayor Johnson said, “The future of America’s great urban centers depends on the willingness of the nation’s mayors to champion law and order and practice fiscal conservatism.”

Life Legal Defense to Pence: 15-week abortion ban bad idea

The Life Legal Defense Foundation advised the pro-life movement and GOP presidential candidates not to push for a federal 15-week abortion ban because it could pressure states to “water down” existing pro-life laws that provide stronger protections for unborn babies, reports the Christian Post.

The statement comes as 2024 Republican presidential hopeful and former Vice President Mike Pence has called on all 2024 Republican presidential candidates to support the idea of instituting a federal 15-week abortion ban as a minimum nationwide standard. 

Appearing at the Faith and Freedom Conference, Pence said this.

PENCE: “I believe even as we work relentlessly to advance protections for the unborn in every State Capitol in America. I believe that we owe it to the American people to elect a president who will fight for a minimum standard in Washington, D.C. I must tell you, I think we ought to ban abortion across America from that point that a baby can experience pain in the womb forward. It’s a 15-week minimum ban.

“I believe it’s an idea whose time has come. Why would we leave unborn babies in California and Illinois and New York to the devices of liberal state legislatures and liberal governors? We need to stand for the unborn all across America. And, as your President, I promise you’ll have a champion for life in the Oval Office.”

Battle in Ohio over late-term abortion

Speaking of the sanctity of life, Created Equal, a pro-life group based in Ohio, will be putting up billboards in Columbus and Cleveland on September 27th with a powerful message.

They will say, “No on Issue 1. No on late-term abortion. Too radical. Too barbaric.  Vote No November 7th.”  The billboards display a picture of a 20-week old pre-born baby sucking her thumb in the womb.

300 Pennsylvania students walked out over transgender bathrooms

And finally, Pennsylvania high school students took part in a large-scale walk-out on September 15th to protest the school district’s decision to allow boys, pretending to be girls, in the girls’ bathrooms, reports LifeSiteNews.com.

Genesis 1:27 says, ““So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female he created them.”

More than 300 students from the Perkiomen Valley School District in Pennsylvania walked out to protest the school board’s decision not to pass Proposed Policy 720, which would have barred gender-confused boys from using girls’ restrooms, reported Fox News.

Stephanie Ott, one of the parents, commended the students, including her son, who walked out.

OTT: “These students that walked out are to be commended. They have courage and they exercised their First Amendment rights. This is about protecting our children and their privacy. Males and females should not be sharing bathrooms. They should be in their own separate bathrooms.”
