"Facing Challenges & Hardship" Hebrews 4 - February 2, 2023 Read Here: https://www.bible.com/en-GB/bible/111/HEB.4.NIV

. Hebrews 4:15-16, For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Facing Adversity and Challenges – Jesus is our great high priest. It is because of his sacrifice that we can go boldly into God’s presence. Unlike the Jewish high priests who had to return to the holy of holies every single year to atone for the sins of the people, Jesus took care of it once and for all. He is the final, perfect sacrifice that made it possible for us to be in communion with Holy God.

But here’s the thing. He is also a great high priest because he can empathize with us. He has been tempted. He has lived as a human. He understands what it’s like to live on this earth. He understands the full expression of human emotions. Jesus gets us.

Thus, in the middle of crisis and hardship, we can go to Jesus. Having been where we’ve been, he understands pain, betrayal, humiliation, and rejection. He knows what it’s like to go through really dark times. If you don’t believe me, read about Jesus as he makes his way to the cross. Not only can we go to Jesus, but we can boldly go before him. We can ask God anything. We can bring him our fears, our anger, our pain, our sadness, and our disappointment. We can lay it at the throne of God’s grace. It’s there that we will find mercy and peace.

Let’s pray…Lord Jesus, We give you glory and praise. Thank you for making a way where there seems to be no way. Thank you for understanding me. In the middle of my fears and doubts, I will worship you. I will lay it all down at the throne of your grace. In Your Powerful Name, Amen.

Our staff and leadership employ what's called the “S.O.A.P. Method”. It stands for Scripture, Observation, Application, and Prayer. Each day, we read one or two chapters of Scripture and focus on one particular verse. We make some observations about how that verse touches us, discern how it applies to our lives, and offer a prayer related to what we have read. - Rev.
