Youtube is still the 2nd largest search engine in the world. Being so you can go to https://www.youtube.com/about/press/ and read up on the latest stats about Youtube usage such as:
2+ billion users – meaning almost one-third of the internet.
18–34 year olds are watching – YouTube, on mobile alone, reaches more people in this US audience than any TV network.
One billion hours watched daily – This is the number of hours of video viewed on YouTube every day, generating billions of views.

The number of channels earning six figures per year on YouTube grew more than 40% y/y.
Number of channels earning five figures per year on YouTube grew more than 50% y/y.
Channels with more than one million subscribers grew by more than 65% y/y.

(why) is it the hardest to write content for your own company?

Here’s a break down of some of our thoughts on this:
Because writing about yourself for people who are honestly humble hate giving themselves praise.
Some may think too much of themselves when writing (not being in an arrogant way), and not about the customers they want. So they’ve never thought too much how to communicate strictly by copy.
It’s hard to write high level about what you do without jargon.
