Sharif El-Mekki is a celebrated teacher and respected member of his community. He is the CEO of the Center for Black Educator Development and along the path of his career, he has held positions as a teacher, principal, and administrator. While he personally has not pursued National Board Certification in his long career, Sharif is a huge supporter of the process and promotes certification throughout his community. He is a valued partner of the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards and currently sits on their board of directors. In this episode, we will discuss how the National Board certification is helping to champion equity and equality within the education system. We explore why it is essential for teachers to be mindful and ensure they are offering their students an equitable education.
