During this episode, we discuss our time at the NCAA Convention. This was a historical meeting as the new NCAA Constitution was officially adopted during this convention. The new constitution contains language that supports student athletes’ ability to profit from their name, image, and likeness. We are joined by our producer, Anthony Palmer, from Palm Tree Pod Co.

During the convention, members were allowed to voice their opinions about the new constitution. Dr. Bill Fierfelder, President of Belmont Abbey College, voiced concern that the new constitution was rushed. Mads McKenna, a member of SAAC, expressed her support for the new constitution and added that she was pleased with the fact that student-athletes could now profit from their NIL. Betsy Mitchell, Athletic Director of Cal Tech, expressed her opposition to the new constitution and stated that the new constitution was revised to benefit a few members, rather than the majority of institution members.

We interviewed a few amazing guests. We spoke with Keith Lowe from DV Sport about the POV of a parent of a student-athlete trying to navigate the NIL era. We sat down with Harrison Larner, a junior at Northwestern University and co-founder of 8 In The Box Productions, to discuss how student-athletes can promote themselves using visual media. We also spoke with Sylvia Cortes, a student-athlete from the University of Alabama at Huntsville and member of SAAC. She provided updates on SAAC and also the new NCAA Constitution. Our final guest was Andrew Trimble CEO of Kairos, a scheduling and communications platform. We discussed the demanding and ever-changing schedules of student-athletes.

Wheeler also expressed his love of Subito sandwiches. We discuss our favorite recent nillies, including FSU women’s soccer’s apparel line, Notre Dame football’s deal with Ikonic, and Raising Cane’s proposed deal with Adonis Arms
