SpEdEp 40 – Prop 8 Trans-lated with Callie and Andrew

On this episode, we take a look at what political overreach by religious organizations looks like at the incremental level. All the research for this episode spawned from the featured Deseret News article about the LDS Church filing an amicus brief in the Supreme Court case concerning transgender bathroom rights. We talk with Callie Wright of the Gaytheist Manifesto to get an idea for just how prevalent this issue is. After that we have a discussion with Andrew Seidel, attorney at Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) to discuss the real-world ramifications of this legal defense against redefinition of Title IX classifications. We end the episode with a petition for the church to take some outside consultants to stop the hemorrhaging of their membership or they will inevitably dwindle into obscurity; one wonders if they prefer the latter to save their pride.
