Dr. Chris is a pain specialist focusing on adhesion treatment.  He talks about soft tissue in our body and why so many suffer with pain for so long. Erin & Dr. Chris also chatted off the cuff about depression, emotional healing and keeping an open mind.

In this episode, Erin talks to Dr. Chris about lingering aches and pains & what happens if we let them go untreated. Long-term continuing pain is, as Dr. Chris puts it, “like a small fire inside of your house….Pain is a signal from the brain, telling the body hey, there’s damage, and we need to do something about this…, or it will continue to grow and become more of a problem.”   He further explains, “if you're doing things that are only giving you temporary relief, same thing, it's kind of like the fire gets turned to a very low flame, but because it's a fire and it just needs oxygen and wood and fuel, you will do put more stress on it and the fire will inevitably grow bigger again until ultimately what we see in our clinic is a fire. It comes close to burning somebody's whole house down.”

They speak further about soft tissue work and Dr. Chris has thought about putting himself out there on social media about treating chronic pain and having a face-off with another doctor. Dr. Chris feels it is heartbreaking to see people who are stuck in pain, and that is why does the best he can to educate people about the problem.  There are misconceptions about how to keep your body performing in tip-top shape. The biggest misconception is that being tight means you need to stretch.

Stay tuned to hear Dr. Chris talk about why we don’t actually care about pain, the role stress plays on our bodies, and how he can help with depression.
