In this episode of the podcast, we sit down with Henny Yegezu, co-founder of EQT and EQT Recordings. Henny’s career in the music industry began as a promoter in the DMV area. This included putting on shows in the D.C. area that were first time market plays for artists like Mac Miller, Big Sean, Curren$y and more, dating back to 2010. After developing a concert promotion brand in the market, he developed a relationship with artists in the local scene. Consequently, he opened a studio, which became a hub for artists like Kali Uchis, GoldLink and others to put together their first projects to share with the world. EQT has since expanded to manage artists including Smino, Masego, Berhana, and JPEGMAFIA, who co-host Jordan Williams works with closely. In 2019, EQT announced a joint venture with Universal Music Group, which now makes it an official label under the umbrella, helping to build an expansive roster.
