In today's episode, I speak with mother-of-two and yoga teacher Maddie Brosnan. We focus on her most recent Fourth Trimester experience with her eight-month-old daughter, Āio, but we touch on her journey with her 22-year-old son, Neihana as well.

The age gap between her babies is a fascinating component in itself - 22 years. Maddie’s perspective on motherhood, despite entering it for a second time and with the wisdom of life experience, is still fresh like that of a first time māmā and we talk at length about her deliberate decision to approach it this way. Something we can all learn from, I’m sure.

We also speak about using breastfeeding as your meditation, returning to yoga and exercise, babywearing, cosleeping, the importance of sex and intimacy with her partner, how he embraced their baby girl, the ritual of returning Āio's whenua (placenta) to the land, and so much more. Perhaps my favourite thing about this episode is its refreshing nature – much of our conversation is about Maddie’s experience. Less about tips and techniques for baby, and more about surrender, learning, and growth for her as a mother and as a woman. It’s truly beautiful, and I know you’ll feel as uplifted from listening to Maddie as I did from interviewing her.
