Chapter 1

🔥🔥 Hot question of the day 🔥🔥

It’s @SimiSara980’s 🔥 question of the day:

Many are arguing that Monday’s election serves as proof that ‘western alienation’ is a real and growing sentiment.

What’s your message from B.C. to our neighbours in Alberta? #wexit #cdnpoli

Chapter 2

‘Western alienation’: what’s your message to our neighbours in Alberta?

That was Scott Fraser, Minister for Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation, speaking in the BC Legislature in the past few minutes.

The NDP government of Premier John Horgan is set to introduce human-rights legislation today, becoming the first province to implement the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

The legislation would mandate the government to bring provincial laws and policies into harmony with aims of the U-N Declaration.

Indigenous relations and reconciliation minister Scott Fraser says the legislation is a B-C version of a federal bill that died on the Senate order paper when Parliament adjourned for Monday's election.

Grand Chief Ed John of the First Nations Summit says the legislation redefines, resets and restructures historical relations between B-C and Indigenous peoples.

Prime Minister Trudeau says people across the country need to understand those living in Alberta and Saskatchewan have faced "very difficult years."

Trudeau will now be heading up a minority government, and there is "Western Separation" chatter online in Alberta, after the Liberals failed to win any seats in Alberta and Saskatchewan.

It doesn't sound like the Trans Mountain Pipeline expansion is up for negotiation by the minority Liberal government. He says government will be "continuing with the Trans Mountain expansion." Trudeau says he has no plans for any formal coalition with the other parties in parliament.

Provincial government limit on expert reports in ICBC cases is unconstitutional: BC Supreme Court

We’ll come to our Science With Simi segment later because we have some breaking news we want to come to.

The BC Supreme Court has ruled the BC government's new limit on medical expert reports in ICBC court cases is unconstitutional.

Experts and expert reports are used to deal with the issues of damages and the government rules restricted parties to use one expert and report for claims less than $100,000; and up to three experts and reports for all other claims.

Court has overturned these rules set by Attorney-General David Eby.

The ruling could have big implications for the bottom line at ICBC.

The change was supposed to save in excess of $400 million while encouraging faster settlements.

Chapter 6

Indigenous Peoples have the right to redress or compensation for traditional lands

The sounds in Victoria today, as drummers from the Lekwungen nation played inside the BC Legislature.

Premier John Horgan has introduced legislation making BC the first province in the country to implement the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People.

Horgan says it’s a catalyst for change. It mandates the government to bring provincial laws and policies into harmony with the aims of the declaration.

The UN declaration gives Indigenous Peoples the right to redress or compensation for traditional lands that are used, taken or damaged without their "free, prior and informed consent," but the B-C government says that does NOT mean a veto over resource projects.

Grand Chief Stewart Philip spoke in the Legislature today about how pleased he is to see this happening.

Premier Horgan told the Legislature he’s determined to walk a path of reconciliation.
