BC's education ministry says a "tabulation anomaly" means some graduation high school students were left with much worse marks on their transcripts than the ones they actually earned.
The error may have affected thousands of students who took the provincial exams in June -- exams that significantly impact applications to post secondary schools.
The Ministry is now in the process of reviewing each and every exam result.
In a statement, UBC says they’re aware of the issue, and are making sure “that if there has been an administrative error in data reporting that it doesn’t have a negative impact on any of our incoming students.”
As you can imagine, this is causing quite a bit of stress for families across the province. If this is something that impacts you - you can let us know on our buzzline: 604-331-BUZZ - that’s 604-331-2899.
Let’s check in with one parent now - Jane Ilott, whose son graduated from Walnut Grove Secondary in Langley. And her son is just days away from needing to submit the copies of his final transcripts.
