Chapter 1

đŸ”„đŸ”„ Hot question of the day đŸ”„đŸ”„

Calgarians head to the polls to declare whether they want the city to host a second Winter Games. Do you support Calgary getting the Olympic Games for a second time?

Yes, Olympics are an awesome party!

No, the costs are too much!

Chapter 2

Calgary votes: to bid or not to bid on the Olympic Games?

Calgarians head to the polls to declare whether they want the city to host a second Winter Games. The question ``are you for or are you against hosting the 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games?'' was to be posed to them Tuesday in a plebiscite to help determine whether the city should move ahead with a bid. Calgary was the host city of the 1988 Winter Olympics. The legacy venues from those games form the foundation of a potential second bid, which would now include the Paralympic Games. While the result of the vote is non-binding on a city council that has the final say, the vote will influence council's decision. The plebiscite was a condition of the Alberta government providing money for a bid. The provincial government is paying for the $2-million cost of the plebiscite.

Chapter 5

California Wildfire

The massive fires tearing through parts of California have killed at least 44, after more bodies were found. The remains of 13 people were discovered in Butte County, north of Sacramento, as the so-called Camp Fire rages on.

A California nurse, Nichole Jolly, made a desperate call to her husband as she was trapped in her car, surrounded by flames.  She told MSNBC’s Ali Velshi of how she escaped death, three times, and then, went back to work.

Chapter 6

Livin’ La Vida Lonely

A new study cements the fact fewer young Canadians are settling down, in fact many are deciding just to live 'alone'. A study by the Cardus group shows fewer Canadian young adults are married or living together than in the past and more and more are deciding to just be 'alone.'

The study shows there's been a steady decline in partnerships over the decades. The report looked at Census data between 1996 and 2016 for people aged 20 to 34. It shows there's been a slow but steady growth in the number of young people who are not married or living together in part because of economic conditions and many are deciding to move back home with the parents. The report says this trend is delaying many moving into 'adulthood' and having children.
