Joseph Alemany is a Solutions Architect for KBR’s Government Solutions U.S. business. In his current role, he is the strategist and technical expert on human performance and associated technology for business development. His expertise is utilized to drive business development, monitor market conditions and project market trends, and foster relationships with industry leaders in the health and human performance domain.


Joe received his undergraduate degree in Exercise Physiology from the University of Massachusetts. He also holds a graduate degree from the University of South Carolina in Exercise Science (Applied Physiology) during which, Joe was the program manager for the most comprehensive assessment of physical activity during U.S. Army initial entry training.


His formal training spans ~20 years from various assignments in and out of uniform at the U.S. Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine, Performance Physiology Division; Army Public Health Center, Injury Epidemiology Directorate; and Defence Health Agency, Research and Development Directorate. He also serves in the U.S. Army National Guard as a clinical laboratory coordinator. Having these diverse experiences in escalating roles & responsibilities allows him to see the health and human performance space from the tactical, operational and strategic level.


Joe has been published in leading peer-reviewed scientific journals and U.S. governmental reports and has been invited to speak at several national and internal conferences. His research is soldier-centric and has ranged in scope from characterizing and intervening on physiological perturbations during military operational stress to development for the new Occupational Physical Assessment Test (OPAT) and Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) and its relation to health outcomes. In additional to traditional scientific R&D initiatives, Joe has provided evidence-based policy support to provide solutions to enterprise-wide physical performance policy and body composition standards in the Department of Defence.
