The “Your Story” Series

In our last episode of this "Your Story" series, we are excited to be sharing with you all a passionate conversation we had with Ivy Hsu, actress and nurse, that really showcases that healing one’s body physically and healing from our sick diet culture is possible.  Ivy will share her story of being in the entertainment industry as a young adult and the horrific pressure she received while working, but then about the hope and healing that came as she gave herself permission to be free to be herself and became a Mom.

From the unique southern culture of Texas to the entertainment industry of Taiwan, diet culture continues to have intense support of thin bodies, prioritize restriction over nourishment, and preach that “thinner is better.” Ivy’s story highlights how external pressures in our society greatly impacts body attunement both mentally and medically. Values and beliefs about food and bodies are pervasive across the globe. No matter the country you live in or culture you are surrounded by, we hope that creating compassion for your body and identifying the values you want for yourself and your family will help you heal.

Highlighting other’s stories can bring to light the pressures that that person is feeling and maybe somewhere, someone is listening and can relate, be motivated for change, and be inspired to rewrite their family and cultural legacy. We hope that from this series of stories that you feel inspired to do the same.
