Next Episode: 66: Natarsha Wendt

Today’s guests are David and Lilias Young who are triathletes and also the creators and hosts of the Kona Kamps podcast.

We talk about how David and Lilas got their start in triathlon, how they met, what they love about the sport of triathlon and what lead them to podcasting about triathlon.

We chat briefly about living and training in the beautiful city of San Diego and Fiesta Island. There is a quick shout out about Bob Babbitt and if you are not familiar with who that is you can find him at www.babbitville.com .

We talk about their personal training for triathlon. David describes himself as a middle of the pack triathlete. Lilias is part of the Coeur Sports Women’s Elite Team with some ambitious personal goals.

David and Lilias share the journey to start the Kona Kamps podcast. We chat about the technology behind podcasting and how podcasting relates to Ironman.

[note from Amy...I think that this proves my general personal theory that if you bring Ironman athletes together we can bring pretty much any topic back to how it connects to Ironman training and racing.]

The mission of the Kona Kamps podcast is to share the journey of Age Group champions in Ironman races. They share how they find their guests for the podcast which includes one story of Lilas chasing down a guest at early morning track practice.Thankfully this has gotten easier for them as the Kona Kamps podcast has grown.

Kona Kamps has expanded from interviewing female age-group champions to providing triathletes with a more broad variety of information including questions and answers and course previews. They give us a quick preview of what is probably coming up in the future on the Kona Kamps podcast.

We chat about what David and Lilas have coming up for triathlon training personally including the challenges of coming back from injury. Delightfully, David and Lilias put me on the spot and make me answer my own question but you have to listen to see what I say is coming up for me.

You can find David and Lilias and the Kona Kamps podcast at www.KonaKamps.com and you can find the podcast at all the usual podcast distribution channels including iTunes, Spotify, Soundcloud and others.
