Are you tired yet? Before the pandemic, we already lived in a culture that never paused or took time to rest, but how is it that we may feel even more exhausted when society is not yet running at full speed? Perhaps it is the constant changes about rules and recommendations that keep popping up. Perhaps it is the constant raging of the 24-hour news cycle where all we hear about is death and destruction, violence and hatred. Perhaps it is the uncertainty of what we can and cannot do, which seems to cover everything from what we can and cannot do with reopening church or school to what we can and cannot do when we step outside our door. All of it and so much more leaves us worn-out physically, mentally, spiritually. We grow weary not just with the burdens of each day, but with guilt for our failures, for those times when we fall short of the expectations of others or the holy expectations of God. We grow weary when we struggle with living as Christians in an unchristian world. So where do we go for rest? Jesus helps us to find rest in him.
