#93-As July 1st is quickly approaching, many incoming medical residents start their orientation that will guide them through these next few years. Sure, they'll learn how to use the electronic medical record, find important departmental phone numbers and how to place a consult, but something far more valuable and so desperately needed in medicine now is a mentor.
Few things are more empowering for a person's professional and career development than a great mentor. A good one can guide a person through the sometimes uncertain waters of medicine. Though, the great mentors are selfless, have an invaluable store of personal experience, and readily help their mentees grow and thrive in medicine.
