Today’s episode is inspired by a conversation between my younger son and I. “Dad, when I was in High School, I thought you were perfect, nothing bothered you, I wanted to be like you.” As cool as that sounds, it wasn’t healthy or useful. Our conversation and the insights he brought to it, are what I want to share today.

“What I realized is, if you (dad) actually struggle, and you still create and do all you do, then maybe I can do that too.” – Jake Silverman

Today on Mastering Midlife:

I can’t learn from perfect people and neither can you. There are no perfect people anyway, just those who hide their humanity. There is no better teacher than one who has already run the course, even if they haven’t mastered it. And especially if they are the challenges you deal with.
