Ryan is joined by David Kelly, CEO of Registered Master Builders to discuss all things housing in New Zealand for 2021 and predictions for 2022. They chime in on topics that are at the forefront of NZ news and media, such as the government's plan for more social housing and how the growing demand for sub trades is causing a lull in current building works.

Taking into account a possible GFC and in the chance of a downturn in the residential housing building sector, David also talks us through the Residential Development Response Fund. This is the government's new decision to put money aside for a possible underwrite for certain projects that could be hit hard by another GFC.

Ryan and David cover why the building industry is so important to the New Zealand economy and why putting in such measures will not only benefit people in the trades, but also have a positive flow on effect to the rest of the New Zealand public.

With all the above in mind, David reiterates to our listeners and small business owners to please look after yourself, "It can be quite a lonely job, particularly running a small to medium business...And I guess the perennial thing that we've been talking about for the last two years at least is look after yourself with your physical and mental health, the people around you keep in touch, don't let that stuff go by."
