Episode Notes
Lara talks with artist and physician spouse Lauren Watkins, who shares her experience of realizing the importance of pursuing her own passion while supporting her husband through medical training and and how she works to find balance with her art business, her marriage and taking care of her family.
About Lauren
Growing up Lauren Watkins always considered herself an artist, but it wasn’t until her husband was in his 3rd year of medical school and she had three young children at home that she rediscovered her love of painting and drawing. She felt the need to find a fulfilling pastime that she could easily do at home. In February of 2016 she decided to participate in a 30 day art challenge as a way to push herself back into art. She had to draw or paint everyday for 30 days.
Since that challenge hardly a day goes by that she doesn’t paint or draw and she has gone back to her roots of constantly creating. The only difference now is that she has to buy her own art supplies and any clothes that get ruined in the creative process. Lauren shares her art on her website laurenwatkinsart.com and sells prints in her Etsy shop.
