In this episode, Lara will be interviewing Chris McGilvery, the founder and Executive Director of the non-profit organization Give More HUGS.  Chris will be sharing his story of how he came to discover his passion for helping underprivileged students while his wife was in medical school and how the organization has evolved into what it is today, despite the several moves he had to make in order to support his wife as a physician. Chris and Lara will also be discussing the importance of finding your passion as an individual and how to follow your passion while also supporting your spouse.

About Chris

Chris McGilvery first had the idea for Give More HUGS in 2011 when he and his wife moved to Dominica for her medical training. There they realized that there were many things they had often taken for granted, like food on the table every night and the opportunity to receive an education to help them pursue their dreams and goals. They saw many children living in poverty in Dominica who were silently crying for support.

Inspired by the sacrifices of his own family to help him receive better opportunities for an education, Chris created Give More HUGS to help underprivileged children receive a higher quality of education. They train youth leaders to carry out service projects that impact the lives of those who live below poverty.  His vision is for every student in the United States and around the world to receive a quality education and for youth to become leaders and make impacts on the local level.
