There are so many phrases that families use and many see them as encouraging, but they can also be doing more damage than good. Depending on the situation and whom it is said too. Phrases such as ‘family is family,’ ‘family over everything,’ or ‘that’s just how they are.’ Families may want to try to break out of this dysfunctional pattern and face the issues within the family that needs to be faced.
