With increasing population comes the need for more housing, commercial buildings, social spaces, and infrastructure. The latest figures in Australia showed that the gross value added by the construction industry amounted to over 150 billion Australian dollars, having recovered in 2021.




Sector-wise, the value of construction work in the private sector was significantly higher than in the public sector. Construction activity varied across states and included residential, non-residential, and infrastructure projects. Employment in this industry rose to around 1.18 million people in 2022, having witnessed a decline in employee numbers in 2020 and 2021. With the booming market, how can we overcome labor shortages?
