On today’s episode, I’m talking to Academic Counselor Alana Butler about seeking out self-improvement.

Alana is an academic counselor and Associate Director of the Student-Athlete Success Program at UConn who loves helping students feel comfortable being their authentic selves. She started out coaching after college but felt like she needed more training to meet the moments when her student-athletes came to her looking for help, both on and off the field. Alana found a grad program in athletic counseling that led her to her current role at UConn. In the spirit of continuing to seek out self-improvement, she looks for opportunities both in her organization and outside of it to stay energized.

We talk about:

The ways we can continue to live out our mission and vision through different roles.Learning how to balance the competitiveness that comes with being an athlete and working in athletics.Showing up as your authentic self and how that creates a space for others to do the same.
