Synopsis: This evening (11/16/23), in our Thursday night Pirkei Avos shiur for women, we learned the second statement of R' Elazar ben Azaryah comparing a person whose wisdom exceeds his deeds and a person whose deeds exceed his wisdom. As usual, we raised lots of questions, but found that many of our "go to" meforshim said that they already explained the idea earlier in the chapter in their commentaries on the statement of R' Chanina ben Dosa. We reviewed those commentaries and attempted to figure out what nuance was added to our mishnah, and even though there was a lot more to discuss, I had to end shiur on schedule because I was dead tired.

In you're interested in an in-depth exploration of the ideas we reviewed, check out the shiur I gave on that mishnah, entitled Avos 3:11-12 - The Relationship Between Chochmah, Fear of Sin, and Deeds.
