Angela Bowen here, the host of She's A Small Wonder: A Small Wonder Podcast.
Today, I’m covering S1E7: The Lie, which aired on October 19, 1985.
In this episode Jamie's parents don't believe him when he says that Harriet's cousin was the one who broke a teapot. Leave it to the robot and her tape recorder to save the day for Jamie.
Also child abuse in the form of spanking is brought up couple times of course this was back in the 80’s.
Ted mentions breaking something over Jamie’s behind.
Jeez Ted, I mean we never see this but how often so far in Season 1 has Ted made a reference to punishing Jamie. I’d say a few times.
Jamie even joked about his skin being black and blue where it used to be pink.
I know Jamie can be a turd, but Ted needs to lighten up. Too many tight lipped, clenched fist scenes of Ted make me uneasy.
Poor Joan and having an allowance since Ted’s the bread winner and having to explain that she got a shirt on sale and shows him the receipt in a past episode.
She wants that mink coat so bad, so she tricks Ted into adding it to the shopping list but he just smirks at her as he erases it.
Harriet’s cousin was a major dip garbage kid person UGH!
Overall this episode was kind of a dud but had some funny parts.

In this episode When a bully extorts Jamie's Fearless Five Club for a daily dollar, Jamie ends up with a black eye. Lucky for him and the club, Vicky is tougher than any bully.
