According to several reports, the Carolina Panthers are closing in on hiring Tampa Bay Buccaneers OC Dave Canales to be the team's next head coach. Julian Council reacts to the news and how the Panthers came to this decision.

For the second straight year, Panthers owner David Tepper passed over current Panthers DC Ejiro Evero for the head coaching role in favor of an offensive-minded HC. Evero has completed a second interview with the Atlanta Falcons for their head coaching opening and is scheduled to interview a second time with the Seattle Seahawks. How likely is it that Evero will earn one of those jobs? Will Evero stay in Carolina or be allowed to pursue other DC opportunities?

For two years, the belief was that Tepper was eyeing Lions OC Ben Johnson to be his next head coach. But at no point did Tepper meet with Johnson in-person about the Panthers opening. Should the Panthers have waited another week to meet with Johnson and other candidates?
