What If Tuskegee and Tennessee State Joined the SWAC? Duane Ross Leaving NCAT for Tennessee

If Tuskegee joined the SWAC, Tennessee State would be a good partner to join as well after Eddie George’s comments about the OVC; this would open up new matchups such as Tennessee State vs Texas Southern or Alabama State, Alabama A&M, and Tuskegee fighting for top team in Alabama. Duane Ross leaves for Tennessee after a 10 year run at North Carolina A&T.

If Tuskegee joined the SWAC, Tennessee State would be a good partner to join as well after Eddie George’s comments about the OVC. The addition of these teams would shake up the division and make Mississippi Valley State move from the East to the West division.

With these teams joining the conference, that means we have new matchups to look forward to. Tennessee State vs Jackson state wouldn’t be a new matchup, but it would be new in the SWAC. It would allow the southern heritage classic to continue. Tuskegee could fight with Alabama A&M and Alabama State for who is the king of Alabama. Then Tennessee State and Texas Southern could play every year for who the real TSU Tigers are.

It’s hard to keep a great coach, and that goes for track & field too. Duane Ross is leaving North Carolina A&T to join Tennessee. This ends a 10 year run at NCAT where he built that team into a force in D1 Track & Field. He’s coached multiple olympians and also had the team ranked #1 in the nation this year.
