Isaiah Land opens up on how FAMU teammate Markquese Bell not getting drafted led him to the transfer portal, and he responds to Deion Sanders’ comments about his initial decision. Jordan Carter, Stephen Singleton, and Jabar Triplett have all landed at a new HBCU through the transfer portal, and eyes are on Randolph Ross to see if he goes to University of Tennessee.

Isaiah Land entered the transfer portal but decided to stay at FAMU about a month ago. He’s now opening up on his whole process. Markquese Bell not getting drafted made Land feel like the odds were stacked him and all FAMU players. After that emotional reaction, conversations with Willie Simmons and his mom led to him staying at FAMU. He was reminded of his vow to stay where he started and the precedent this could set for high schoolers.

Deion Sanders commented on Land entering the transfer portal, and Land did not appreciate his comments. He essentially told Deion Sanders he shouldn’t speak on situations he’s not fully knowledgable about. Land expressed his desire to break the FAMU sack record. Lastly, Land also spoke on why he was happy to return to FAMU for the culture.

There’s been quite a bit of activity in the transfer portal for HBCUs lately. Southern is adding a former All CIAA Rookie team member to their secondary in Jordan Carter. After redshirting at Jackson State, Stephen Singleton is headed to Morehouse to bolster a defense that was one of the most disruptive in the SIAC last year. Jabar Triplett is coming off 2 season ending injuries that kept him from getting on the field at Arizona. Now, he’s joining Grambling. Duane Ross hinted at his son, Randolph Ross, joining him at Tennessee.
