Bayou Classic is Back on National TV, Demetri Morsell Adds a Playmaker to Southern's Secondary

Hampton Linebacker Keshaun Moore signed a NIL deal with WWE, and former CIAA Defensive Player of the Year, Demetri Morsell is another Bowie State defensive back to come to Southern University through the transfer portal this week. The Bayou Classic is back on national TV with NBC.

Hampton Linebacker Keshaun Moore signed a NIL deal with WWE. This deal is labeled as a Next in Line deal. It’s supposed to provide a pathway from college athletics to WWE.

The Bayou Classic is returning to NBC after a 7 year run on NBCSports. This is important because being on national television makes the game so much more accessible. With a larger audience, it helps more people be aware of HBCU athletics.

Demetri Morsell is another Bowie State defensive back to come to Southern University through the transfer portal this week. More than that, however, he is simply a great player. He was predicted to make the All D2 First Team this season when he was still at Bowie State. In 2019, he showed his ability as an instinctual playmaker with 10 turnovers and returning 4 of them for touchdowns. That season earned him CIAA defensive player of the year honors.
