Benedict Off to Hot Start| Is This the Year Savannah State Knocks Them Off Though

Benedict College’s women’s basketball team has been a force in the SIAC for a while now. This year is no different. They’re undefeated just like Savannah State. So when I say you can’t talk SIAC women’s basketball and not mention Benedict College, I’m not simply focusing on their past. Their present is pretty bright too. They’ve won 8 out of their last 9, and a big reason for that is newfound offense.

Benedict has been good and has been a thorn in the side of Savannah State since SSU has came to the SIAC. SSU has only been in the conference for 2 years, but beating BC has been a real struggle. Yet to knock them off, I think this year has the chance to be different. There is one Achilles heel BC has, and it is something SSU has shown to be able to take advantage of. 

Last week, Brison Gresham had a career night vs UT Rio Grande Valley. He set his career highs in points, rebounds, and blocks. This performance resulted in him being honored as SWAC Impact Player of the Week. He impacted that game in every facet. He led the team in points while changing the opposition’s gameplan offensively.
