The UConn women's basketball team, seeded No. 2, will compete in the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the 29th consecutive year on Monday against No. 7 Baylor. The winner of the game will advance to the Seattle Regional of the Sweet 16 and face the winner of the North Carolina vs. Ohio State matchup. In the first round of the tournament, UConn quickly dispatched No. 15 Vermont 95-52, with Aaliyah Edwards scoring a career-high 28 points and Dorka Juhász recording her 14th double-double, while Nika Mühl contributed 10 assists.

Azzi Fudd returned to the starting lineup for the first time since December 4, replacing Aubrey Griffin, who played only 6.5 minutes due to back spasms. The game marked the first time all season that all 10 available UConn players scored in a single game. Although UConn and Baylor have a heated rivalry, this will be the first time they meet under new Bears' head coach Nicki Collen, who took over in May 2021 after Kim Mulkey left for LSU.
