Sure it's only preseason, but you still want to see something positive come out of these games. The Avalanche are trying to see what they have with potential future players and while some showed moments of promise, they struggled to gain any momentum in back-to-back games against the Minnesota Wild and Vegas Golden Knights.

You can live with young prospects not lighting it up at this stage of their careers. But what makes you look out of the corner of your eye was the play from your sure-fire roster goalies in Pavel Francouz and Alex Georgiev. Nobody is hitting the panic button following preseason games. But you would be lying if you said you didn't want to see them play better.

Following the Vegas loss, the Avalanche made some roster moves and sent a handful of players down to the Colorado Eagles. One name that stood out that was not sent down was Martin Kaut. Is he ready to grab a roster spot and not let it go? We shall see.

The Avalanche have two more preseason games and we should start to see more of the household names in those games. So a more true-to-form Avalanche team should make us feel better about what we watch on the ice.
