Ever feel like you want to pursue something else but don’t because you’re afraid of making less money?

My guest this week, Sarah Gormley, did just that. She said “no” to more money in order to say “yes” to having more time to pursue a new passion.

It’s not always about making more money.

Sarah’s a very successful destination wedding photographer who recently took bold steps of taking on fewer photography gigs to become a part-time doula. Fewer clients mean less money in her pocket. However, it freed up her time, a currency we often overlook.  Hear how she calmly manages this shift and how pulling back from one passion allowed her to make more room for what’s most important to her personal growth and long-term sustainability.

What you will lean:

What it means to be sustainable as an entrepreneur How to avoid becoming burned out and losing your love for what you do The difference between taking a break vs. taking a pause The importance of saying no to new clients How to take mindful breaks from your work and find out what recharges you The importance of self-reflection and tuning into yourself How to balance a paycheck and happiness What a doula is

Questions asked:

Do you feel guilty for taking time off for yourself? How do you define self sustainability? What is a doula? How did you discover being a doula and when did you decide that that was what you wanted to do next in life? What are two favorite things of yours to take a break? How do you say “no”? When was the last time you experienced any type of burnout? What does burnout feel like to you? How can people become more in tune with themselves? How can people become more confident in saying no and taking a break? Do you think there’s a misunderstanding out there that doing nothing is not productive? What small step can people make to take a break and “tune into themselves”?
