If you’re serious about going to the Olympics one day and winning a gold medal, or simply being the best at whatever it is that you do and win in life, you have to focus on your strengths. That’s right, the key to becoming your best self is to figure out what you're naturally good at, and keep working on whatever that is.



The problem is, when you're good at something, it's easy to not try so hard. You may be tempted to do just enough to get by without putting much effort. But just because doing good comes easy to you, doesn't mean you should be satisfied with being above average. If you don’t challenge yourself, you’ll never improve.



You need to compete against the best. Going up against people who are better than you is the only way you'll climb that ladder and start becoming your best self. After all, as good as you think you are, there's always someone better than you.



In order to focus on your strengths, the first step is to find what comes naturally to you. Whether you’re in school or at a job, what you excel at can quickly become clear to you if you pay attention.



Don’t let yourself be distracted by your weaknesses. It seems like there is a pervasive belief in society that says we should be balanced. But I don’t believe that. Why spend your time and energy on something you don’t like, just to be average at it?



Instead, focus on your strengths. Whether you’re seeking a gold medal or want to be the best at something else and win in life, this is the key to becoming your best self.
